Man Allegedly Hacks To Death Ex Wife’s Lover In Mangochi

A 35-year-old man is in police custody at Monkey Bay police station in Mangochi for allegedly hacking to death a fellow man over a love dispute.

Public Relations Officer for Monkey-bay Police Sergeant Alice Sichali has identified the suspect as Gift Makuti.

According to Sichali, it is reported that the deceased, Henry Bauleni 27, was on separation with his wife and as such, he went back to his home village in Dedza.

On the material day, Bauleni decided to go back to his wife at Chilimba Village in MonkeyBay for reconciliation.

Fight broke when Bauleni found the suspect (Makuti) in his house. The suspect later took a panga knife and hacked Bauleni on the head.

Bauleni was taken to Monkey Bay Community Hospital where he was admitted for three days but later died while receiving treatment.

This led to the arrest of Makuti and has since been charged with murder.

Makuti hails from Solomon Village, Traditional Authority Masasa in Ntcheu District.
