Four Human Trafficking Victims Return Home Safely After Being Rescued

At least four women who were trafficked to Oman, in the middle east have arrived safely in the country.

minister of Labour Vera Kamtukule and the National Project Officer on Trafficking in Persons for United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) Maxwell Matewere, confirmed in separate interviews.

According to Kamtukule, over 50 Malawians are stranded in the Middle East and government is taking necessary steps to make sure that there is quick and safe repatriation of the affected migrants.

Kamtukule also said going onward, migration to the Middle East Countries will be subject to rigorous vetting, which may take up to 14 working days.

There have been reports on social media that a lot of Malawians are subjected to slavery treatment in middle east countries.

But weeks ago a grouping of people living in Qatar and Oman disputed the reports.
