Water for People urges Malawians to follow hygienic measures

An international water, sanitation and hygiene organisation, Water for People has urged Malawians to avoid further spread of cholera disease by following proper measures in the country.

Water for People, Country Director, Ulemu Chiluzi said this on Friday when his organisation presented to Blantyre City Council, chlorine, and other sanitation equipment.

The items will be distributed in schools, hospitals and other hotspots in the country.

Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, John Bande together with deputy Mayor for Blantyre City, Funny Baraba Kanogelera have asked for more support as the city continues to fight with new cases.

So far, cholera outbreak has affected 25,458 people and it has claimed lives of 842 where as 1006 people are being treated in different health facilities and 549 people have been disc arched.
