Two people arrested for possessing fake money in Mzuzu

Police in Mzuzu have arrested two people in Mchengautuba Township for allegedly being found with fake Malawi kwacha notes amounting to K27,500.

The notes are in denominations of K2,000, K1,000 and K500.

Mzuzu Police Station spokesperson Paul Tembo has told Times 360 Malawi that Chikumbutso Theu, 23, was arrested when he attempted to buy goods at a grocery shop while Nicholas Sitchula was arrested at his home where he was allegedly printing the money.

Tembo says the two were also printing motorcycle bluebooks.
