Jiya asks Govt to look into farm produce markets.

The Lilongwe City South Legislator,Alfred Jiya has asked government to take a leading role in making sure that farmers benefit from the proceeds of their products.
Jiya echoed the sentiments from the background that prices of tobacco are only good when state president is around, and they changes when he left auction floors.
He has expressed optimism that the prices will be constant even when the President is away from the floors.
Responding to the claims, Agriculture Minister Sam Kawale says they are making sure farmers should smile with this year’s price of tobacco currently selling at $2.60 per kilograms.
Kawale has therefore advised the farmers to take care of their tobacco to have high quality product to fit the market.
Meanwhile,Dr Godfrey Chapola added that they have more buyers this year, they are ten in total.
Chapola stressed that a series of Cyclones has affected production for some farmers from the southern region because their nursery were washed away.
He has also pleaded with growers to produce what the buyers want on the market.
