Police launches manhunt for a hit-and-run driver

Mzimba Police Station has launched a manhunt for a driver who was involved in a hit-and-run incident which claimed a life along the Bulala- Euthini earth road on Sunday night in the district.

Public Relations Officer (PRO) for Mzimba Police Station, Peter Botha has identified the deceased as Jebson Lungu, 35.

“The unknown motor vehicle that was being driven by an unidentified person hit Lungu at Thale area along the Bulala – Euthini earth road leaving Lungu lifeless,” he said.

According to Botha, Lungu was found lying lifeless by a passer-by who reported the matter to the Police who visited the accident scene accompanied by medical personnel.

Post mortem results revealed that Lungu’s death was due to head injuries and had sustained a fracture to his right leg due to the accident.

Lungu hailed from Isaac Lungu Village, Traditional Authority (TA) Chindi in Mzimba District.
