Police in Zomba have arrested a 43-year-old man on allegation that he killed his own wife, Elina Luna, aged 37, of Jambo Village, Traditional Authority Malemia in the district.
The suspect has been identified as Rashid Madengu and the report says that Luna was discovered dead on September 1, 2023 on the floor of her house’s pit latrine where she was staying together with her husband at Chinamwali Village in the district.
The matter was reported to police who in turn rushed to the scene and took the body to Zomba Central Hospital.
Postmortem examination conducted at the facility revealed that Luna died due to strangulation.
The suspect was arrested following the manhunt launched by Zomba Police Station detectives and he will soon appear before court of law to answer murder charges.
