At least 1500 households are expected to benefit in a post Cyclone Freddy right to food project which aims at speeding up socioeconomic recovery, months after the devastating disaster.
Being implemented by Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiative (CDED), the one year project is also empowering the beneficiaries by training them in soap making to be able to raise money.
Among others, the project which will be implemented in Phalombe, Chiradzuru, Mulanje, Chikwama, Nsanje and Blantryre will see households being supported with food supplies during the coming lean period
The pilot phase has been launched in Phalombe at Nkhulambe EPA on Thursday CDEDI executive director Sylvester Namiwa says the project will also reach out to peri urban natives who struggle to earn a living.
