SCORCHERS AIM FOR PERFECT FINISH

Malawi women’s national team set to complete their final Cosafa group match against Madagascar at UJ Soweto Stadium this afternoon with a win

The scorchers who have already qualified for the knock out stage as Group A winners with six points from two matches whereas Madagascar are out after back-to-back defeats.

Malawi beat South Africa 4-3 in the opening Match of the tournament, with Temwa Chawinga Scoring a hattrick.

The Scorchers are highest scoring team after netting 12 goals and conceding 3 goals from two matches.

Scorchers head coach Lovemore Fazil has warned his players that they need to take this game seriously as a victory is the only option that he needs.

“We need to take the game seriously despite that we are already in the semi finals. The match is very important as we want to finish the group stage with nine points. We want to make history,” said Fazili.

The free scoring scorchers are the favorites to lift this year’s Cosafa Cup following their impressive start of the tournament after beating South Africa and eSwatini.

In 2021 Malawi reached the finals of the Cosafa Cup but failed to clinch the title after they were defeated by 1-0 by Tanzania.
