Mutharika’s family coy on late Bingu’s mausoleum takeover

The Mutharika’s family is yet to respond to government request to start taking care of the late Bingu Wa Mutharika’s mausoleum, (the Mpumulo wa Bata) in Thyolo.

This come almost six months after the government sent a memorandum to the family so that they should be given a go ahead and sign it.

Monument and Culture Director, Dr. Lovemore Mazibuko, says they are still waiting and reminding the family of the agreement, which has an opinion on how the government should take over the mausoleum.

Mazibuko, says the delay is affecting the government’s desire to start managing the resting place of the former president.

Bingu wa Mutharika was born on 24 February 1934 and he died in 2012 on 5 April while in office and he died of cardiac arrest.
