In Mzimba, a 37-year-old man named Chipiliro Masulani has been apprehended by the police for allegedly assisting 20 Ethiopians in entering Malawi illegally.
The arrest followed a tip, and Masulani, along with the 20 Ethiopians, was taken into custody along the Eswazini – Mzalangwe road on Tuesday.
Authorities are currently on the lookout for the driver of the vehicle that transported the Ethiopians, as the driver fled the scene.
The police have impounded a Toyota Hilux Double Cabin with registration number BR 2830, which is believed to have been used in transporting the Ethiopians.
This incident in Mzimba occurs concurrently with another case in Rumphi, where police arrested four Malawians for allegedly aiding 26 Ethiopian nationals to enter the country illegally.
