Assistant Clerk of Parliament Lawson Chitseko’s burial Friday

The body of Lawson Chitseko who until his death was serving as assistant clerk of Parliament responsible for committees will be laid to rest this coming from Friday at his home village in Zomba.

Chitseko died on Wednesday, 21st February, 2024 just after knocking off from work.

Clerk of Parliament Ian Mwenye has confirmed of the development in a statement made available to faceofmalawi.

“Parliament will forever remember his valuable contribution and commitment to the institution.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this time of grief,” reads part of the statement signed by Mwenye.

Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament Catherine Gotani Hara has suspended Parliamentary deliberations to Friday.

“All stakeholders are further informed that the House will not sit on Thursday 22nd February 2024. The House will resume sitting on Friday, 23rd February, 2024,” added the statement.

Chitseko was in Parliament yesterday when President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera was answering questions from the lawmakers.
