Police in Mponela Dowa are keeping in custody Maganizo Nataniyere aged 35 for being found in possession and cultivating cannabis sativa without licence.
Mponela Police public relations Officer Sergeant Macpatson Msadala has confirmed by saying Nataniyere was arrested by Police detectives from Mtengowanthenga Police Unit in the afternoon of 27th February 2024 at Chimwaza Trading Centre following a tip from members of the community.
The officers also found 33 plants at his compound and loose chamba after searching.
He will appear before court soon to answer charges leveled against him after the completion of paperwork.
Nataniyere hails from Nataliyere village in the area of Traditional Authority Mponela in Dowa District.
