Govt warns of floods in Mzimba, Karonga, Nkhotakota, Mangochi and Salima

The Government through Ministry of Water and Sanitation has warned of flash floods in Mzimba, Karonga and some parts of the Lakeshore areas from March 7, 2024 and March 14, 2024.

The warning follows the swelling of many rivers in the affected areas and continued heavy rains accompanied by thunderstom.

Government has since warned people in the affected areas to move to upland areas and to desist from crossing flooded areas.

Today President Dr. Lazarus Chakwera is visiting people affected by floods in Dwangwa and are currently in camps. a total of 6 people have lost their lives.

Over 9,000 people have been rendered homeless.
