Government through ministry of Education has warned that it will revoke the licenses of private schools whose owners are not adhering to the harmonized school calendar.

The Ministry of Education has fired warning shots after observing that some private schools have already opened for the first term and others are opening today on 9 September.

The authorities have  indicated that the first term for the 2024/25 academic year will start on September 16.

Public Relations Officer for the Ministry, Mphatso Nkuonera, said institutions that are not adhering to the calendar risk having their licenses revoked.

Meanwhile, some commentators have asked the ministry  to not rush into revocation as it is it is somehow disgusting to pin Private Schools while some public schools are also in session.

It would be very beautiful if the ministry authorities conducted a spot check survey or deeper investigation to balance the claim.
