Man Electrocuted in Suspected Copper Theft Incident at ESCOM Facility, Lilongwe

An unidentified man has died after being electrocuted in an apparent attempt to steal copper wires from an ESCOM facility at Gravity Mall in the city of Lilongwe. The man, believed to have been trying to cut the copper wire, was fatally struck by electricity at the scene.
Deputy Spokesperson for Kanengo Police Maria Kumwenda, has confirmed the incident and stated that the body of the deceased is currently being held at Kamuzu Central Hospital while efforts are underway to locate his family.
The authorities have cautioned the public against tampering with electrical installations, as it poses serious risks and can result in tragic consequences.
