Road Accident Claims Life Of Unknown Pedal Cyclist In Salima

Unidentified man, believed to be of the age of 35 to 37 years of age, has died after being hit by a motor vehicle on November 06, 2024, at about 23:00hrs, at Mtonga Village, along Lilongwe -Salima road.

Confirming the news, Salima Police Spokesperson, Sub Inspector Rabecca Ndiwate said that the driver of the motor vehicle, Mitsubishi Canter Lorry, was driving from the direction of Lilongwe heading to Salima.

“On arrival at Mtonga Village, he hit the unknown male pedal cyclist, who was cycling towards the opposite direction,” she said.

She further said that following the impact, the cyclist sustained severe head injuries and was taken to Salima District Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Meanwhile, police in the district are asking the public to report any missing relatives to them or to the nearest police station, as the deceased has not yet been identified.

The body of the deceased is being kept at Salima District Hospital.
