Police in Chiradzulu have denied allegations that they assaulted a 52-year-old man, identified as Moses Kachulu, four days ago in the district.

Kachulu claimed he was beaten by police officers following a domestic disagreement with his wife, who is also a police officer.

He alleged that after the argument, his wife instructed her fellow officers to assault him, and he believes the attack was influenced by her.

However, Police spokesperson for Chiradzulu police, Cosmas Kagulo dismissed the claims, stating that Kachulu is actually facing charges for causing disorder and unlawfully entering police premises.

Kagulo further clarified that if Kachulu sustained any injuries, they likely occurred at Chichiri Prison and not at any police station.

The matter is currently under investigation by the Independent Complaints Commission (ICC), while prison authorities have yet to issue a statement.

Kachulu is currently receiving medical attention at a hospital in Chiradzulu.
