The Lilongwe Magistrate Court has adjourned the case involving Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Vice President for the Central Region, Alfred Gangata, to 14 July 2025. Gangata is accused of fraudulently acquiring a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) at Chitowo in Dedza without sitting for examinations at the school.

The court proceedings continued this week, with the defence team requesting an adjournment, stating that they had not yet completed the cross-examination of the state witnesses.

However, the state opposed the request, prompting the court to allow the defence time to justify their application.

Following submissions from both sides, the court granted the adjournment, setting the next hearing for mid-July.
