Kaugwe CDSS Launches Oil Pressing Factory Project in Dowa

Kaugwe Commuity Day Secondary School (CDSS) in Dowa District under Traditional Authority Mponera, through the support from Belgian Government, has yesterday on 29 May 2025, officially launched solar power and oil pressing factory project.

Speaking on the inauguration Minister of Basic and Secondary Education, Madalito Kambauwa Willima, said the machines will give students experience and interest in careers like engineering.

According to Kambauwa  such projects will help to improve education and encourage students to aim for university and became skilled business owners.

The Belgian Ambassador to Malawi, Peter Huyghebaert, said the Belgian government is supporting the project t by bringing in new technologies from Belgian companies.

He also announced that Kaungwe CDSS is the first of 45 schools to receive such equipment with 44 more schools expected to benefit soon.

The Minister said the kind of development is important for Malawi’s long-term goal, agenda 2063, which aims to make the country more self-reliant and developed.
