The case of Lin Yun Hua, a Chinese national previously convicted of wildlife-related crimes, has officially been transferred to the High Court of Malawi.

This development comes after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) certified the case as a “summary procedure trial,” which qualifies it for handling at the High Court level.

Peter Sambani, Principal Legal and Prosecution Officer at the Anti-Corruption Bureau, clarified that the certification marks a routine legal process where a case is moved from a lower court to a higher one.

“With this certification, the case file will now be sent to the High Court Registrar, who will allocate it to a judge. The judge will then proceed with the case in line with their court schedule,” Sambani explained.

Lin Yun Hua was convicted in 2021 for offenses including the trafficking of rhino horn and involvement in money laundering activities.
