Unknown Person Allegedly Defiles 8 Year-old Girl In Zambia, Police Launch Manhunt

An unknown person has reportedly defiled an 8-year-old girl of Airstrip Compound in Mazabuka, leaving her complaining of general body discomfort and a painful private part.
The incident was reported to Police on 18th June 2025 by the victim’s 23-year-old stepsister, who indicated that the girl was defiled from the old Mazabuka graveyard.
Southern Province Commissioner of Police Auxensio Daka conveys that the victim was on her way home after visiting a friend at a neighbour’s house when she met the suspect.
The unknown man asked the girl to follow her, but when she refused, he began chasing her, eventually getting hold of her and taking the victim to the old Mazabuka graveyard near Exceed Private School, where he allegedly defiled her.
Daka states that after shouting for help, a passerby, aged 21, heard the girl’s cry and rushed to the scene, with the suspect escaping at that instant.
The passerby then took the victim to her parents and explained what had happened, with the matter subsequently reported to the police.
Daka says a medical report form was issued to the victim and a case docket was opened as Police continue to search for the suspect who the victim says she can identify.
