Lilongwe Council Approves CFCE Peaceful Demonstration in Lilongwe

The Lilongwe District Council has approved a peaceful demonstration organized by Citizens for Credible Elections to take place on Thursday, 26th June 2025 Lilongwe city.

In a letter released on 24th June, the District Commissioner, Dr. Lawford Palani, confirmed that the group can go ahead with their march. The council made this decision after holding a meeting with the organizers and other key stakeholders.

According to the letter, the petition from the group will be delivered to the District Commissioner’s office, and a senior official from the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) is expected to be present during the handover.

The Malawi Police Service will escort the group and the demonstration will start at 09:30 am, beginning from the Community Ground, passing through Mchesi, Kamuzu Central Hospital, Chilambula Road, Lilongwe Hotel, and ending at the District Commissioner’s office in Area 3.
