Two Students Arrested in Mzuzu for Allegedly Stealing K4 Million from Businessman
Police in Mzuzu have arrested two students in connection with the alleged theft of K4 million from the owner of Chisanga Complex Center in the city.
Mzuzu Police Deputy Public Relations Officer Cecilia Mfune, has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspects as James Dulamoyo (23) and Owen Mkulichi, both students at a local technical college.
The incident reportedly took place on 2nd July, when the two allegedly used a fraudulent banking system to purchase food and drinks worth K350,000 from the complex.
Authorities say suspicions were raised when the business manager visited the bank to withdraw funds but discovered that K4 million in sales revenue collected between May and July was missing.
Following a police investigation, the suspects were apprehended and are said to have confessed to the crime. They are expected to appear in court soon to face charges related to the theft.
Police have since warned business owners and the public to be cautious and vigilant when handling electronic transactions and bank-related activities.
