Zambian music star Frank Chirwa popularly known as Afunika has spoken out about a viral video showing him receiving a prophecy from Copperbelt-based Prophet Hermes Elisha, saying the video is being taken out of context.

Speaking in a Facebook Live broadcast, Afunika explained that the video  which surfaced yesterday  was recorded six months ago during his first-ever visit to the church. He clarified that he did not seek out the prophet for spiritual guidance, but had simply accompanied his wife, who insisted on attending the service despite being unwell.

“My wife had been wanting to visit that church, but every time the prophet was in Chingola, she would fall sick,” Afunika said. “This time, even though she wasn’t feeling well, she insisted on going.”

Afunika, best known for his hit “Piki Piki Skirt,” shared that he dropped his wife at the service and returned home. However, around 2 AM, he received a phone call inviting him to the church. He was asked to bring along one of his music CDs.

“When I got there, I was surprised to find that I was the topic. The prophet began to speak about me,” he explained.

Afunika emphasized that he had never met the prophet before and was surprised by the accuracy of what was said. However, he pointed out that the circulating video clip is incomplete and doesn’t show the full conversation.

“I’m not saying everything he said is true, but that’s what I was told. God can reveal things in unexpected ways,” he added.

The artist also questioned the motive behind the sudden circulation of the video, especially since he has an upcoming concert that has received little attention from the same bloggers who are now sharing the prophecy.

“There’s nothing wrong with going to church,” he said. “But I wonder why people are more focused on that moment than on what I’m doing next in my career.”
