Case Involving Alleged Plot to Kill Inkosi M’mbelwa V Moves to High Court

Mzimba Magistrate Court has ruled that the case involving Masabani Jere and three others be transferred to Mzuzu High Court, citing a lack of jurisdiction due to the seriousness and complexity of the charges.

Masabani Jere (63), Smart Nyirenda (42), and Muva Nkhata (54) are accused of plotting to assassinate Inkosi ya Makhosi M’mbelwa V.

Presiding over the case, Magistrate Redson Gamariel stated that the case falls beyond the jurisdiction of the lower court, therefore be transferred to the High Court.

Defence lawyer Blessings Nkopola commented that this is a natural procedure for certain offences to be referred to the High Court.
