Housemaid Arrested Over Theft in Lilongwe

Police in Lilongwe have arrested a housemaid aged 34, for allegedly stealing assorted items belonging to her employer at Area 3, on August 31, 2025.
Deputy spokesperson for Lilongwe Police, Sergeant Khumbo Sanyiwa, has confirmed the arrest and identified the suspect at Yuniki Mwachande,
According to Sanyiwa, on the said day during morning hours, the suspect was assigned to wash clothes and take care of the house.
Taking advantage of her employer’s absence, Mwachande allegedly packed some children’s clothes and groceries before sneaking away to her home in Chinsapo.
The matter was reported to police by her employer, leading to the suspect’s arrest. Upon searching her house, officers managed to recover the stolen children’s clothes.
The suspect is currently inpolice custody and will soon appear in court answer a theft charges
