31-Year-Old Driver Dies in Mchinji Road Accident

A 31-year-old man, Ganizani Duwe, has died following a fatal road accident that occurred around midnight on September 5, 2025, along the Mchinji–Lilongwe M12 road.

According to Mchinji Police spokesperson Limbani Mpinganjira, Duwe was driving a Toyota Axio Saloon with three passengers on board, heading towards Lilongwe.

Upon reaching Ndalama Village, Duwe reportedly lost control of the vehicle due to speeding, causing it to swerve off the road, overturn several times, and finally land on its wheels.

Duwe sustained severe internal injuries and was rushed to Mchinji District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead while receiving treatment.

The three passengers survived with minor injuries and are currently admitted to the same hospital. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

The late Duwe hailed from Chibwana Village, Traditional Authority Mlonyeni, in Mchinji.
