Zambian Police Officer Appears in Court For Sharing Her Nud3 Pictures on WhatsApp

A Zambian police officer has been arrested and charged for allegedly sharing her nude photographs in a WhatsApp group for paramilitary officers.
On Monday, the accused, Nyarai Kambelembele, appeared before Lusaka Resident Magistrate Peter Mungala facing two charges under the Cybercrimes Act No. 2 of 2021.
She has been charged with:Possession of obscene material tending to corrupt morals and Circulating obscene material, after allegedly sharing nude pictures and videos in the Paramilitary Jubilee Intake 51/52 WhatsApp group between September 24 and 27, 2024.
Clad in a long floral dress, Kambelembele appeared in court without legal representation.
During proceedings, Magistrate Mungala noted he recognized the accused from her time working as a police officer in Mazabuka, Southern Province. When asked if she was comfortable being tried by his court despite this, Kambelembele said she had no objections.
The case has since been adjourned for continuation.
