All Eyes on MEC as Presidential Results Set for Announcement Today

The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has confirmed that it will announce the winner of the presidential election today at 2 PM.
According to MEC spokesperson Sangwani Mwafulirwa, the Commission will not be making any further statements before the official announcement.
Mwafulirwa also clarified that MEC has not received any court injunction restraining it from releasing the results.
Earlier, Malawi Congress Party (MCP) president Lazarus Chakwera applied to court seeking an order to stop MEC from announcing the outcome until certain concerns were addressed. The court, however, ruled that while the matter could be heard, it would not grant an injunction to halt the release of results.
