Zomba Police Launch Manhunt for Woman Who Allegedly Stole Newborn Baby

Police in Zomba have launched a manhunt for a woman accused of stealing a newborn baby boy, Robert Alfred, from Zomba Central Hospital.

According to the station’s publicist, Patricia Sipiliano, the incident occurred on September 21, 2025. The baby’s mother, Miss Yasintha Robert, had been admitted to the labour ward at the hospital, where she gave birth.

While in the ward, an unknown woman reportedly posed as a postnatal patient and interacted with the mother. The following day, Miss Robert discovered that both the woman and her newborn son were missing.

Police are appealing to members of the public with any information about the suspect or the child to come forward to assist in the investigation.
