Unidentified Man Found Dead in Lake Malawi, Nkhata Bay

Nkhata Bay police have confirmed the discovery of an unidentified man’s body in Lake Malawi near Chindozwa area, within Mung’ona Village under Traditional Authority Mkumbira.

According to the district’s deputy police spokesperson, Devoter Mithi, the body was spotted by Village Head Mung’ona and fellow fishermen during a fishing expedition. They retrieved it after noticing it floating in a decomposed state.

Police officers, together with a medical officer from Nkhata Bay District Hospital, later visited the scene and conducted a postmortem. Findings revealed that the man died of suffocation, secondary to drowning.

The body has since been taken to the district hospital mortuary while authorities await identification by relatives.
