Preparations are underway for a memorial event in honour of the late musician Martin Nkhata, popularly known as Martse, scheduled to take place on October 25, 2025, in Lilongwe.
According to the artist’s family, the event will feature live performances, prayers, and a candlelight ceremony to celebrate the life and legacy of the award-winning rapper.
A family representative, Uchizi Nkhata, said organisers are planning to invite two local artists to perform during the ceremony. He added that any changes to the program will be communicated in due course.
A statement posted on Martse’s official Facebook page, which is now managed by his family, reads:
“Join us as we unveil his tombstone and celebrate the life, music, and impact of a true icon. His voice may be silent, but his spirit lives on.”
Martse passed away on May 18, 2022, at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital in Blantyre. He was best known for hit songs such as ‘Mwano’ and ‘Go Deeper.’
