Police in Zambia have confirmed the tragic death of 19-year-old Nchimunya Makala, who was brutally murdered at her boyfriend’s house. According to Southern Province Police Spokesperson Auxensio Daka, the incident occurred on October 19th this year. Nchimunya had been sent on an errand by her mother, Jennifer Mweene, but first stopped at the home of her 21-year-old boyfriend, Charles Bhole.
While the couple was chatting, an argument erupted after Nchimunya received a romantic message from another person, which angered Bhole. He allegedly took a knife and stabbed his girlfriend multiple times in the head. Following the attack, Bhole reportedly ingested poison in an attempt to take his own life.
Nchimunya’s mother became worried when her daughter took too long to return home and tried calling her, but the phone was switched off. At approximately noon, Bhole’s father, Robert Hanzala, saw Bhole rushing toward his house and shouting for help. Mr. Hanzala followed Bhole to his house, found the door open, and heard someone crying and sounding weak inside. To his shock, he found Nchimunya lying on the floor with severe head injuries.
Both individuals were rushed to the hospital. Sadly, Nchimunya Makala was pronounced dead upon arrival. Charles Bhole survived the poisoning and is currently receiving medical treatment.
