USA – A 22-year-old Florida man, Daniel Waterman, reportedly awoke from a months-long coma to accuse his pregnant girlfriend, Leigha Mumby, of deliberately crashing their car into a tree during an argument earlier this year.
The February 2025 crash left Waterman critically injured and Mumby with minor wounds.
Investigators say the altercation began after Mumby discovered she was pregnant and allegedly saw a message from another woman on Waterman’s phone.
Waterman briefly regained consciousness before his death on October 8, 2025, and told authorities Mumby had intentionally caused the crash.
His statement has since become key evidence in the case, leading prosecutors to upgrade the charges against Mumby to vehicular homicide.
Waterman’s family says they are now seeking custody of the unborn child and justice in his memory.
