Balaka Police Arrest Two in Connection with Housebreaking and Robbery

Police in Balaka are keeping in custody two men linked to separate theft and robbery cases that occurred in the district.
Balaka Police Spokesperson, Sub-Inspector Gladson M’bumpha, said one of the suspects, Davie Phakamisa from Zingwangwa Township in Blantyre, was arrested last Friday in connection with the theft of assorted household items, including television screens and wrappers.
According to M’bumpha, some of the stolen property has since been recovered. Phakamisa has been charged with housebreaking and theft and will appear in court soon.
In a separate incident on the same day, police also apprehended Mangani Sabawo, 28, from Sekani Village, Traditional Authority Lundu in Chikwawa District. He is suspected of robbing a Lifan motorcycle from Godfrey Clement at Toleza Farm.
M’bumpha confirmed that the stolen motorcycle was later recovered within Balaka Township. Four other suspects have also been arrested in connection with the case for theft and receiving stolen property.
Police have since commended the public for providing information that led to the arrests and recovery of the stolen items, urging continued collaboration in the fight against crime.
