Chileka Police Detain 12 in Pre-Festive Security Operation

Police in Chileka, Blantyre have arrested 12 suspects on Monday as part of efforts to enhance security and public safety during the festive season.

Chileka Police Public Relations Officer, Jonathan Phillipo, said they targeted crime hot spots and areas that have recently become hiding places for offenders.

“We also focused on bicycle and motorcycle operators found working during odd hours in locations such as Chatha, Ngumbe, 10 Miles, and other surrounding areas,” Said Phillipo.

Among the suspects, six identified as Gerald White, 27, James Kaudza, 48, Bonaface Zuze, 40, Thom Stafford, 23, George Bowman, 27, and Diverson Samson, 25, were arrested on torturing charges.
Four others were apprehended for operating motorcycles during prohibited hours, while the remaining two will answer charges of being idle and disorderly. All suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
