Zambian Family Loses Two Members to Electrocution

Two members of the same family have died from electrocution while another sustained injuries in a tragic incident on December 7, 2025, around midday at Kabanana Site and Service in Lusaka.
Preliminary police investigations indicate that Priscilla Mwansa (44) was electrocuted while hanging clothes on a laundry wire that had come into contact with electrically charged iron sheets on a roof.
Her daughters, Roma Banda (24) and Faith Banda (10), attempted to rescue her. During the incident, the laundry wire snapped, causing all three to fall to the ground.
Priscilla and Faith died instantly, while Roma sustained burns to her hand and is receiving treatment at Chipata Level One Hospital.
The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the University Teaching Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem examinations.
ZESCO Limited personnel were notified and attended the scene to assess the electricity hazard. Police have opened an inquiry into the matter.
