The African National Congress (ANC) in the Victor Molosi Region South Africa, has called for a formal investigation into a video circulating on social media that allegedly shows Bitou Municipality Deputy Mayor Nokuzola “Noksi” Kolwapi discharging a firearm during a Mgidi ceremony held for her sons.

In a statement, the ANC said it views any alleged use of a firearm with serious concern, particularly when it involves a public office bearer who is expected to uphold the law and demonstrate responsible leadership.

The party has urged law enforcement agencies to conduct a thorough and independent investigation to verify the authenticity of the video and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, stressing that the law must apply equally to all, without fear or favour.

The ANC reaffirmed its commitment to public safety, the rule of law and ethical leadership, stating that should the allegations be confirmed, appropriate action will be taken in line with legal requirements and the party’s internal disciplinary processes.

Members of the public have been urged to remain calm while authorities carry out their investigations.
