More than K50 million has so far been spent on the production of the Malawian film The Royal Dilemma, producers have revealed.
The disclosure was made on Thursday during a press conference held in Lilongwe, which was convened to mobilise financial support for the film’s official premiere scheduled for March 27, 2026, at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC).
Speaking at the event, actress Ida Chicker Chabs, who also features in the film, contributed K5 million towards the premiere preparations. Aunt Dee’s Garden also came on board with a donation of K500,000, alongside additional material support.
The Royal Dilemma was directed by Isaac Misoya and features a cast of well-known local actors, including Joyce Chavula, Edwin Chonde, and Miracle Chinga.
Organisers say the upcoming premiere in Lilongwe is expected to be a major milestone for Malawi’s growing film industry, as the production continues to attract significant local support and investment
