Malawi’s award-winning adventure pioneer, Mervis Maigwa widely celebrated as “Travel with Mervis” has once again pushed the boundaries of African exploration. In a viral update shared with her followers today, January 12, 2026, Mervis documented her heart-stopping experience at the infamous Devil’s Pool on the lip of Victoria Falls.
Currently on a high-octane tour of Zambia, the “Warm Heart of Africa’s” favorite explorer proved why she holds the title of best destination promoter. Standing at the precipice of the 108-meter drop, where the Zambezi River plunges into the abyss, Maigwa described the moment as a pinnacle of her career.
The Devil’s Pool is a natural infinity pool accessible only during the dry season (typically ending in mid-January), when water levels are low enough to allow a safe but terrifying swim to the very edge. Guided by experts, Mervis navigated the rushing currents to peer over the basalt lip of the world’s largest curtain of falling water.
“Standing at the edge of the world at Devil’s Pool was one of the most thrilling experiences of my life,” Mervis stated. “It’s adrenaline, trust, and pure wonder all in one moment. Looking down into the gorge while the Zambezi rushes past you is humbling, exhilarating, and unforgettable.”
Mervis, a former foreign service officer turned tourism powerhouse, has built a reputation for making luxury adventure accessible and patriotic. Her journey to Livingstone is part of her broader mission to strengthen regional tourism links between Malawi and its neighbors.
Her daring feat serves as a powerful reminder of the raw beauty within the SADC region. As she famously asked her growing community: “Would you dare to take the plunge?”
The post has already ignited a wave of pride and excitement back home in Malawi, as fans cheer on the woman who continues to put Malawian adventure on the global map.
