Couple and Five Others Arrested for Assaulting 15-Year-Old Boy in Balaka

Police at Ulongwe in Balaka have arrested a couple and five other individuals for allegedly assaulting a 15-year-old boy from Makunganya Village, Traditional Authority Chimwala, in Mangochi District.
Eastern Region Deputy Police Spokesperson Tionge Kayenda identified the suspects as Spiriti Belo and his wife Elina Anenji, alongside Shabani Issac, Mussa Sanudi, Amimu Amanu, Musaiti Amini, and Samson Anubi.
Kayenda said Belo and his wife engaged the boy to help apply fertilizer in their garden.
After completing the work, the couple allegedly accused the boy of stealing K900,000 from their bag, an allegation the minor denied.
The other suspects reportedly joined in assaulting the child and are expected to appear before court soon.
