Eleven people sustained injuries yesterday morning following a road accident at Chimwankhunda in the city of Blantyre.

Soche Police spokesperson, Aaron Chilala, confirmed the incident, stating that the accident involved a Nissan Vanette minibus. The vehicle reportedly experienced a mechanical failure and stalled while climbing the Zion hill. It then rolled backward and plunged into the Chimwankhunda River.

The minibus, which was being driven by 34-year-old James Chibwana, was traveling from Chilobwe toward Zingwangwa at the time of the crash.

Police have confirmed that all victims were rushed to Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) in Blantyre, where they received medical attention. Fortunately, none sustained life-threatening injuries and they have since been discharged to their respective homes.
