The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has granted permission to the Domestic and Vulnerable Workers Association (DOVWA) to join the legal proceedings involving socialite Vanessa Chimbayo and her former domestic worker, Cecilia Davison.
DOVWA Executive Director, Dominic Makawa, has confirmed that the charges against Chimbayo have been formally amended. The accused is now facing counts of paying wages below the government-mandated minimum and the public humiliation of her employee on social media platforms.
The Blantyre Magistrate’s Court is expected to announce a new date for the continuation of the trial soon.
