Two Security Guards Arrested Over Theft of 137 Tyres in Lilongwe

Police at Kawale have arrested two security guards in Area 22 on suspicion of stealing 137 vehicle tyres from a warehouse where they were employed.
According to Mabvuto Precious Phiri, the suspects have been identified as Asafi Ali (45) and Hassan Jalasi (51).
Phiri said the two were working as guards at a warehouse owned by Kondwani Nyirenda.
Police launched an investigation after receiving a tip-off from members of the public that the suspects were storing stolen tyres and other items at another house.
Officers later conducted a search at the location where they recovered 26 vehicle tyres believed to have been stolen.
Police also found a motorcycle and iron sheets, which are suspected to have been purchased using money obtained from selling the stolen tyres.
Investigations are continuing and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon.
