Dowa Police Arrest 30, Including Suspect in Defilement Case

Police in Dowa have arrested 21-year-old Alick Tembo for allegedly engaging in sexual intercourse with a minor. He is among 29 other suspects apprehended in connection with various criminal offenses.
Dowa Police Station Public Relations Officer, Alice Sitima, said the arrests followed a targeted operation conducted in Dzaleka Refugee Camp, Dowa Boma, and surrounding areas. The operation aimed to enhance public safety during the Easter holiday and beyond.
According to Sitima, the 29 suspects, aged between 17 and 50, are accused of committing a range of offenses, including cultivating cannabis without a license, theft, selling petroleum products without authorization, unlawful wounding, and possession of stolen property.
All suspects are expected to appear in court to answer their respective charges.
Meanwhile, police in the district have urged members of the public to report any suspicious individuals or activities to enable swift law enforcement action.
