Police at Lingadzi Police Station in Lilongwe have arrested two security guards on suspicion of murdering their fellow guards at Area 43 Charismatic Church.

Lingadzi Police Public Relations Officer, Sergeant Maria Kumwenda, identified the suspects as Kaphankayani Mission, 49, and Chifundo Mwaya, 34.

According to Kumwenda, the arrests follow a report made on March 28, 2026, by a deployment officer from Safeguard Security Services, indicating that two guards had been murdered by unknown criminals while on duty at the church.

The deceased have been identified as Feddwick Lackson, 72, and Frank Ndenguma, 56.

“Facts are that the two guards were attacked and killed during the night of March 27, 2026. The following morning, church members arriving for prayers discovered bloodstains at the premises,” said Kumwenda.

She added that upon following the blood trail, the bodies of the victims were found with deep head wounds.

Police say the suspects allegedly stole several items after the attack, including a Yamaha keyboard, a Behringer amplifier, a welding machine, and an Itel keypad phone, all valued at K2.5 million.

Following intelligence-led investigations, detectives arrested Mission in Kauma, Lilongwe, and later apprehended Mwaya in Zomba District.

All the stolen items have since been recovered, and the suspects are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges of murder and robbery.
