Suspected Bombs Discovered at Construction Site in Mchinji

Workers digging a house foundation in Mchinji District, at Robert 5 area, have discovered objects suspected to be explosive devices and promptly alerted police.

Police in Mchinji District, working together with specialists from Area 30 under the Counter Terrorism and Anti-Explosives unit, are currently on site assessing and identifying the devices.

Authorities say one of the suspected devices has already been safely detonated at an airstrip, producing a loud blast and releasing thick smoke.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the nature and origin of the remaining objects, as security personnel continue to secure the area
