Police in Mulanje District have confiscated a Jericho 941FS pistol and arrested four men in Murofinyo Village under Traditional Authority Mabuka.

District police spokesperson Innocent Moses identified the suspects as Benson Tsegula, Precious Tsegula, Samuel Maonga, and Isaac Bolowa.

Moses said the suspects had been moving around the village behaving suspiciously, raising concerns among locals.

“A security guard at a tea estate in Minimini encountered the men and became suspicious. He alerted others, and they questioned and searched them, leading to the discovery of a firearm and ammunition hidden in one of the suspect’s trousers,” said Moses.

Police say investigations are ongoing to establish the suspects’ intentions in the area.

The four are expected to appear in court soon to answer charges related to illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
