Police in Mulanje District have arrested four men suspected of possessing a Jericho 941FS rifle without proper documentation.

Mulanje Police Spokesperson, Innocent Moses, identified the suspects as Benson Tsegula, 32; Precious Tsegula, 28; Samuel Maonga, 32; and Isaac Bolowa, 22.

Moses said the suspects were arrested in Murofinyo Village, under Traditional Authority Mabuka, by village security personnel working in collaboration with a security guard from Minimini Tea Company.

He explained that the suspects failed to give satisfactory answers when questioned by the security team, prompting their arrest before being handed over to police.

Meanwhile, police say investigations are ongoing to establish the motive behind the suspects’ actions. The four are expected to appear in court soon.
